Summer Term 2: Exploring Energy – Geography Focus
Each day at our school is filled with exciting and engaging activities to help our students grow and learn across all subjects. During Summer Term 2, we are focused on Geography, exploring the fascinating world of Energy—how it's produced, used, and how it affects our planet. Here's a glimpse into a typical day:
Morning:
- Start of the day: We begin by taking the register, making sure everyone is ready for a day of learning and discovery.
- Guided Reading & Spelling: Students strengthen their reading skills in small group sessions and practise spelling patterns and vocabulary linked to our topic.
- Maths: Next comes maths, where students tackle real-life problems and data handling activities—some even linked to energy usage and statistics.
- Break: After working hard, it's time for a refreshing break to recharge.
- English: We end the morning with English.
Afternoon:
- Reading for Pleasure: After lunch, we take time to relax with reading. Students explore books of their choice and also get the opportunity to read with an adult to support fluency and understanding.
- Geography Topic Sessions: Students dive into our Energy unit—learning about renewable vs. non-renewable energy, the global impact of energy choices, and how different countries produce and use energy.
Subjects Throughout the Week:
- Monday: ICT and RE – In ICT
- Tuesday: Science and PSHE
- Wednesday: Spanish, PE & Assembly
- Thursday: Geography & Music
- Friday: PE, DT & Assembly
Our school day is carefully designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, especially as we explore important global themes like energy and sustainability.
